라마단이 거의 끝나가고, 어김없이 둘째 딸의 학부모 상담(Parent Consultation) 날짜가 잡혔다. 우리 딸은 영국 국제학교 year 3에 재학 중이다. 역시 영국 학교답게 상담도 미리 예약하고 온라인으로 담당 과목 선생님 별로 한다. 지금까지는 늘 담임 선생님하고만 상담을 했었는데, 이번에는 아이가 아랍어랑 PE 성적이 영 안좋게 나와서리,,, music을 제외한 모든 과목 선생님과 처음으로 상담을 해보려고 한다. 막상 여러명의 선생님과 영어로 상담을 하려고 하니, 아직 일주일이나 남았는데도 벌써 긴장되고 울렁거린다;;;;; 그래서 가만히 잠자코 있을 수는 없다. 아이의 학교 생활이 어떤지, 아이가 흥미로워 하는 게 있는지, 부족한 게 무었인지 이것 저것 물어봐야 한다. 준비를 안하면 선생님 설명만 듣다가, 고개 끄덕끄덕만 하다가 땡큐하고 소중한 상담 시간을 끝내버릴 것이다.
